RECESSION PROOF JOB GROWTH
Dental Assisting is a Recession Proof Field
The Houston Chronicle recently published an article spotlighting the increasing demand for health care professionals, such as dental assistants, in Texas’s current and future workforce. The article named the state’s expanding broadening population, health care innovations, new medical facilities, and the Affordable Care Act as likely sources of this emerging trend.
Statistics released by the Texas Workforce Commission announce there were 27,930 dental assistants employed statewide in 2010. Government employment projections estimate these professionals will number 27,960 by 2020. This sizable increase of 6,030 workers over ten years equates to a 27.5% growth change.
